New LIFE CRITICAL Reports: Practical Tools for Climate Resilience in Urban Areas

We’re delighted to announce the publication of new resources to support our goals of driving climate resilience in urban areas beyond our study sites and across Europe.

These reports share our progress and highlight lessons learned from implementing the LIFE CRITICAL approach in Dordrecht, Netherlands. Designed to support replication, these materials target professionals in urban greening, climate adaptation, and citizen science, with the goal of fostering urban climate adaptation through intensive citizen engagement in Dordrecht and beyond.

The resources include a detailed case study on Dordrecht, providing in-depth insights into the strategies and impacts of the project, alongside a practical guidebook to assist other cities and municipalities in applying these methods.

The LIFE CRITICAL approach focuses on high-impact climate adaptation in older, densely populated neighbourhoods, structured around three core principles: consciously planned blue and green infrastructure, community involvement, and a continuous process of monitoring, evaluation, learning, and replication.

By leveraging these tools, city planners, environmental professionals, and community leaders can drive transformative change in urban spaces, building healthier and more resilient communities across Europe.
